Den Hanrahan is a singer-songwriter whose songs tell the stories of modern Australia – from the red dust of the landscape, to the loves and losses of the people that have touched his life. Woven through this rich repertoire are the stories drawn from his own past, finely observed tales from his years living and working across the country.
Steeped in bluegrass, folk and Alt country roots, Den, with longtime musical partner Matt Nightingale on slap bass is now exploring a hybrid style with his band. Refusing to be bound by genre and dipping generously into the melting pot that is Australian music, Den Hanrahan has taken a new look at their songs and the result is a surprisingly fresh take on roots music.
Den will be touring the new live CD, Smoke and Mirrors, at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Gulgong, showcasing songs from his 4 studio albums.
