Queensland riff lords HOBO MAGIC have announced a mega East Coast tour on the back of pending debut album release ‘The World Today’, which has already sold hundreds of copies and gained critical acclaim in its first week of release. In an industry full of pretenders, image consultants and big promotional dollar spends, Hobo Magic are leading the charge of the underground, matching actual A1 playing ability with a behemoth live set that quickly transforms still rooms into sweaty vibing messes… all done with a smile on their face.
The new album takes some new turns for the band in what appears to be a concerted effort to showcase the band’s influences and riff-based diversity. The result is outstanding. Lead singer Connor Mitchell says of the upcoming release and tour “It’s been a few years in the making and we are stoked with how this new album has turned out. We’ve stepped up the production and the songs really explore our sound and influences. There’s some epic times ahead as we hit the road and take the groove ship around this beautiful country and beyond! See you at a show for a beer!” With a successful EP ‘Leader Deceiver’ (2015) already under their belts, Hobo Magic have spent 2017 touring lead singles ‘The World Today’ and ‘Hobo Magic’ around the country, racking up some 40 tour dates to audiences up and down the East Coast in preparation for the October/November jaunt including festival appearances at Mojo Burning, Dead of Winter, Brewtality and more. A New Zealand tour will also go ahead in December as well as a Japan tour early 2018.
The acclaimed act has supported such International heavyweight bands such as Earthless, Elder, Lecherous Gaze, Red Fang, Kadavar, Radio Moscow and The Sword, also capturing the recent attention of LA superstars Nick Oliveri (QOTSA/Kyuss) and Brant Bjork (Kyuss). Hobo Magic will team up with well known party act Vanilla Gorilla for a show at the Stag and Hunter in Newcastle on Friday 17 November. Entry is free from 8.00pm.
